| 28th December 2009 - 15th March | Persecution of homosexuals in Hamburg 1919-1969
This exhibition documents the persecution of homosexual women and men during the Weimar Republic, the Nazi Regime and during the first decades of the Federal Republic of Germany. Schwules Museum, Mehringdamm 61. |
| 28th December 2009 - 11th April. | Dionysus – Metamorphosis and Ecstasy
170 antique sculptures, vases and small art objects represent thousands of art works which were stolen during World War II and restituted from the Soviet Union in 1958. Pergamon museum. |
| 29th December 2009 - 31st January. | Deep Sea
The deep sea begins around 200 metres under the ocean surface and is the world's largest ecological system. This exhibition lets visitors dive into these depths with its unusual inhabitants and gives insights into the complex work of the deep sea research. Natural history Museum. |

| 29th December 2009 - 7th February | Caricatures of the Cold War. OSKAR vs. Erich Schmitt
Caricaturist OSKAR attacked the events around the Berlin Wall in the newspaper Berliner Morgenpost, for years. His drawings are juxtaposed with the caricatures by Erich Schmitt from the eastern newpaper Berliner Zeitung, illustrating the East-West-confrontation and its influences on everyday life in Berlin. | 29th December 2009 - 28th February | The Dame with the cembalo - Wanda Landowska and the Ancient Music
With an eye on the enigmatic personality of the cembalist Wanda Landowska, the development of the Ancient Music in the 20th century as well as the discussion on the "historical correct" cembalo are central themes of this exhibition. Musical Instrument Museum. |

Children's tunics, shoes, toys and pictures of children from the 3rd century B.C. to the 8th century A.D. living illustrate the living conditions of children in the Ancient Egypt. Bode-Museum. |

| 14th | The Berlin Carnival Parade brings the party spirit to Germany 's capital, hitting the streets in a blaze of colour, music and dancing. Characters in traditional costumes include Narren (jesters), witches, clowns and other favourites.
The jovial carnival atmosphere is guaranteed to enliven the city and provide plenty of fun for all ages. |

| 10th | Berlin 25 km. The Berlin 25km has one of the best reputations for quality organization and is certainly one of the best known of all European races. Starting and finishing at the Olympic Stadium and takes in famous landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and Kurfurstendam. There is also a supporting 10km. |

| Various dates | Berlin's Botanic Garden (Botanischer Garten) plays host to a series of Summer Concerts in the open air on Friday evenings. Music includes everything from Russian folk songs to Portuguese fado and the German Symphony Orchestra. For more information about the programme, please visit the Botanischer Garten website. The ticket prices all include entry to the garden on the day of the concert. |
